End of the month review: August, 2005
Wow, Im really unorganized. I never really unpacked completely when I first got to the island. Then I had to pack everything up and move into a new place in a hurry. (Done in one day, on Thanksgiving, more on that another time.) I no longer have any separate shelving for books read, books read but not reviewed, and books that need to be read. Its all a big, daunting pile. And, not really having any pencils around, most of these books dont have the mark on when I started and finished meaning for the next two months that I have to catch up on, Ill have to make estimations.
Fortunately, I havent read a ton of stuff since I got here. I had four jobs, remember? Notice I said had. More on that later as well. Right now, its time for a little administrative duties.
- Best book: Nick Hornby, with A Long Way Down. Cause death is funny. When it involves other people, anyway.
- Worst book: Alan Moore, with "The Ballad of Halo Jones: Book One Even Alan says in his introduction that nothing really happens until book two, but I certainly didnt want to pick it up after this, as nothing interesting happened. They now sell this series as a complete volume, so Im probably not the only person who felt this way.
And so for the books read between August 2 and September 1...
- Books read: Ten.
- Money spent on books read during this period: $51.20.
- Books bought during this time: None. NONE! Holy crap! I dont work at a used bookstore anymore!
So that means for 2005 thus far...
- I read 86 books. That doesnt seem quite right, Ill need to double check when I have free time. Maybe in seven years.
- Money spent on books in 2005: I also spent $364.44 on books this year.
Now lets see if I cant find the books Ive read in the last three and a half months so I can actually write about them. Fortunately, I wont have to find many.
