Jack Kerouac, "Visions of Gerard"

Started February 9 Finished February 9, 2002; 152 pages. Posted 09 February 2002

I mentioned in the last Kerouac entry how there were two kinds of Kerouac books: Good Kerouac (On The Road, Satori in Paris), and Bad Kerouac, which usually consisted of stuff he wrote after becoming famous or stuff published after his death when agents would publish his shopping list and call it high poetry (The Subterraneans, "Lonesome Traveler).

This is Bad Kerouac. Bad Kerouac. Go lie down.

Well, not THAT bad, I suppose. He keeps a fairly coherent storyline and refrains from babbling nonsensically for the most part. But who cares? Not me, and not about this story. The best thing I can say about it is that it was really short.

Rating: Worth flea market prices, but only for the hip factor.
