End of the Month Review: February, 2005
Started February 2 Finished March 1, 2005. Posted 04 April 2005
I should be finished with the reruns by Sunday. Hooray.
Book of the month: Brian Michael Bendis with Jinx.
Worst book of the month: Carissa Van Den Berk Clark with May It Come Quickly, Like a Shaft Sundering in the Dark. Heres a sample:
- Its this simple: womyn are bound to their child, men can always run away. My belief is that once a woman has a child and she is not allowed the freedom to find a suitable partner and is basically a chattel slave, she becomes a loyal worker who is happy with pennies. Notice the sexist news and government officials never complain about womyn working. The complain about womyns sexuality and feminist voices who fight for the rights of womyn because there is more money to be made when corporations can pay womyn 75 percent of what men make, but womyn working? Never! So, the conservative strategy is to drive down wages and create an illusion of gender equality by encouraging womyn to work but taking away their freedom in all other ways...
And the same paragraph continues for another five lines. This is for a novel.
Remember the gangsta parody movie Dont be a Menace to South Central while Drinking Your Juice in Da Hood, with the guy who would pop into frame whenever it got preachy and shouted Message!? I wrote Message! in the margins of this book about six hundred times.
Anyway, along with those two books, this month I...
- Read 12 books.
- Paid $52.41 for the books that I read this month.
- Bought six more
- Received one free for review.
So for the year, I...
- Read 25 books
- Spent $114.35 on books that I read this year.
And I have 38 more to go.
